Your Children’s Teeth

At Corn Market Dental Practice, we believe that you are never too young (or too old) to benefit from great dental care.

As a family dentist we like to make sure your children also have healthy teeth from the moment the first one comes through.

Our mission is the prevention of decay and promotion of healthy smiles for all, especially young children and we are committed to helping everybody maintain good oral health.

Dental care should begin at an early age. Plaque will begin to form as soon as a child’s first tooth arrives. Brushing teeth twice a day, a balanced diet and regular check ups at the dentist are essential to ensuring healthy teeth and gums for life.

It is recommended to bring your child for inspections from an early age with the date of their first examination around 2 years old. Do not wait until they have toothache.

Frequently Asked Questions

Children should have their first dental check-up by the age of one or within six months of their first tooth erupting. Early check-ups help ensure proper oral development.

To prepare your child, talk positively about the dentist, read dental-themed books, and role-play dental visits at home. Keep the experience as calm and reassuring as possible.

Baby teeth are essential for speech, eating, and holding space for permanent teeth. They require proper care, including brushing and regular check-ups.

Common issues include cavities and malocclusion. Prevention involves regular brushing, a balanced diet, and dental sealants or fluoride treatments when recommended.

Children can start brushing with supervision around age 6, but they may not have the dexterity for thorough brushing until around age 10.

Choose a pediatric dentist, use positive language, and explain the process beforehand. Many dental offices also offer child-friendly environments.
